I erroneously created some templates that I would like to delete. Any suggestions how?
....

This has become such a frequently asked question that I have come to believe it needs more than just an explanation in the manuel. May I suggest a one-click solution from within Storyist itself: a Delete button on the Template Chooser.

I think this makes a smidgen more sense than a Delete Template command under the Save As Template command. But perhaps a Delete Template command could bring up the Template Chooser with its shiny new Delete Button.

What do you think, Steve?

Reasonable, especially since Apple now hides the ~/Library folder in Lion.

One more thought, then.
Deleting the template should put it in Storyist Trash, not System Trash. Just as it is easy to mistakenly create a template, it could be just as easy to mistakenly delete one. Needless to say, this should be an undoable function.

How about the /Library folder? That one too? Or is it still visible to the "naked eye" without searching?

No, Apple still allows you to see the contents of /Library and /System/Library in 10.7. Lion hides only the User Library. The rationale (supposedly) is that people new to OSX are more likely to delete something essential from their own user library (Keychain? Why do I need a keychain? Got my keys right here! :)), because you need an administrator password to trash something in the System folder.

As the mother of a one-time 7-year-old who managed to get hold of ResEdit and send his first Mac into total schizophrenia before an adult could intervene, I'd argue that Apple has missed the boat on this one: it is annoying power users without saving those who need saving from themselves. And although you can run a one-line Terminal command to show the user library, a routine software update disables it, forcing you to hunt down the command and run it again. I hope the company will see the error of its ways in a future release and at least supply a simple preference option for turning the hiding off. ;)

But to get back to topic, I support the idea of a simple delete button for templates—or, alternately, a list of templates comparable to the list of backups, with the option to open, duplicate, or delete them (I guess the Project Chooser serves this function, but it could be expanded a bit). And I agree with Thoth that the option should be undoable in some way beyond dragging it back from the trash.
Best,
M
